The climate agreement for the waste sector from 2020 should be renegotiated. This is the message from seven of the country's largest waste companies in an open letter to the government and the Danish Parliament, who want to reverse the decision to close 30 percent of waste incineration plants.
Waste and energy companies are an important part of the Danish security of supply. We can contribute to a stable supply of both heat and electricity and - with the new opportunities for carbon capture - we can ensure a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The right political focus on framework conditions will mean that we will invest billions and contribute to further securing the security of supply.
