Film studio built with reused materials from ARGO

A room, a café and an outdoor area. The students in 3.a at Himmelev High School have just inaugurated their new film studio - furnished with reused materials from ARGO.

Together with their teacher Rune Barløse Thomsen and the janitors, the students have given their old studio a huge makeover and built some cool new movie sets.

Some building materials were purchased to build the set, but doors, windows and all fixtures and fittings were sourced from ARGO's recycling centres.

Several months of work

3.a and their teacher Rune visited Roskilde recycling centre back in December to pick up the many things that Gensalg had collected for them over a period of time. They filled several cars with furniture, trinkets and textiles that the students could use to build and decorate their movie sets. Since then, they have built the studio from scratch.

Now they have ready-made movie sets where they can shoot in a teenager's room, a café or an outdoor area. All areas can be individually adapted to the students' needs. They are also already generating ideas to make movie sets even more multifunctional for the future.

Exam recordings can begin

The first behind-the-scenes shots are already planned. Nikoline Juul Jensen and her exam group will use the teenage room and the café area to film a drama.

- We have to do our exam production in these studios, and my group has to make a short film with a girl and a youth group in high school. It's about a love triangle that takes place in the youth group, so it's very appropriate that it's a girl's room and a café. We need the girl's room for someone who sits at home and looks at social media, and the café environment for them to meet and talk things out," says Nikoline Juul Jensen, 3rd year student at Himmelev High School.

The students are looking forward to using the studio in the short time they have left in high school. They are also happy to have helped create a studio that future students can continue to use - even decorated with reused materials.
